Adopt a resident

Adopt an animal and help us secure a better future for them and their friends. We have nine of our lovely animals waiting to be adopted.

Adoptions are a fantastic way to support our work, helping to fund everything from food bills and veterinary care for our existing residents, right through to exciting projects like our Pig Barn & Woodland! Adoptions last for 12 months and you can even choose digital adoption, which is sent via email instead of through the post.

Can I adopt an animal as a gift?

Yes! As well as being a wonderful way to treat yourself while doing good too, our adoption boxes make fantastic gifts for friends and family of all ages! Once you’ve chosen a resident, just click the ‘adopt an animal as a gift’ button. We also offer the option to add a personalised gift message to your box.

Can I adopt an animal without receiving a box?

Yes. Just select ’email adoption’ on the order form and we’ll send you a digital adoption pack instead, which includes information on your chosen animal, your adoption e-certificate, plus a PDF recipe card.

How often will I/my recipient receive updates on their adopted animal?

We send out between 3 and 4 animal update emails for our nine residents throughout the year. Adoptions last for 12 months, and so you/your recipient will receive animal updates up until the date of expiry, although you can unsubscribe at any time if you wish.

If you are buying a box as a gift and want to ensure that your recipient doesn’t receive an update before you give them their box, just email info@goodheart.org.uk after you have placed your order and we’ll arrange this.

Are there options to pay per month?

Not for our adoption boxes. If you’d like to support our residents with a recurring payment, please visit our Sponsor an animal or Regular donation pages.

Can I visit my adopted animal at the sanctuary?

Yes, you can usually meet the animal that you adopt by booking one of our Sanctuary Tours. Some of our animals are a little shy and may not be feeling sociable on the day you visit, but most of our adoptable animals including Rufus and Duncan the cows, Eddy the pig, Harry the pony and Dorothy the chicken all love fuss from humans.

Once you have booked a tour via our website, just email our Visitor & Education Manager Abby at abby@goodheart.org.uk to let her know that you would like to meet your adopted animal and she will do her best to include this in the tour.

Please note that as a very small charity we cannot process refunds on Adoption Box orders.

Sustainability

Adopt an animal and feel Goodhearted

At Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries, we care just as much for the environment as we do the animals that inhabit it, which is why we worked with sustainable supplier Pink Sheep to produce the main items for our adoption boxes. The coasters are made from slate mined in Wales and leftover from the roofing industry and so have a very low carbon footprint. The notebooks are made in the UK and printed on FSC paper using vegetable-based inks and both our fridge magnets and stickers are British made and FSC certified.

On top of this, every adoption box you buy goes towards Pink Sheep’s Trees for Life Programme in partnership with the Scottish Highlands, with our current adoption boxes having contributed to the planting of 9 trees!
