Volunteering with rescued animals can help you build skills, confidence and knowledge- all while helping enrich the lives of vulnerable animals.

About us

Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary is now home to over 300 rescued farm animals. We aim to change public perception of farmed animals by showcasing their sentience and individual characters. We offer school trips, away days, and open days where everyone can meet our residents and find out more about the benefits of a more compassionate lifestyle.

We’re looking for like-minded people who can make a regular commitment to helping rescued animals. We have a range of volunteer roles available so if you think you might be a good fit, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Animal Interaction Volunteer

We know that many animals (depending on their circumstances) require more than just food, water and shelter to live a happy and fulfilled life. For this reason, we are looking for Animal Interaction Volunteers to help enrich the lives of our rescued animals.

Your tasks may include:

  • Designing and delivering innovative enrichment toys for our animal residents
  • Stroking and scratching animals that choose to interact with humans
  • Grooming animals
  • Mucking out animal housing

Days and times

  • Preferably Monday – Friday, but Saturdays will be considered
  • Mornings or afternoons

If you’re passionate about animal welfare and keen to get involved, please do get in touch. Induction and training will be provided.

Gardening Volunteer

Are you an enthusiastic horticulturist with experience of growing your own veg, building raised beds or maintaining an allotment? We need your help to develop an organic vegetable patch to produce veg, jams and chutneys throughout the year.

If you think you may be able to lend a hand with building raised beds, digging and turning soil, sewing seeds, weeding and organically protecting crops from pests, this may be just right for you. You don’t need to be a green-fingered whizz, all experience is helpful. A regular weekly commitment would be preferable to keep our veg patch neat and tidy.

Days and times

  • Preferably Monday – Friday, but Saturdays will be considered
  • Mornings, afternoons, or full days

If you think you could help set up our vegetable patch, please email kath@goodheartanimalsanctuaries.com

Sanctuary Tour Volunteer

Would you like to get involved with our summer visitor days? We’re open to the public on the first Saturday of every summer month so that everyone can meet our rescued animal residents.

We are looking for passionate and chatty volunteers to help assist us. You would help guide groups of visitors around our beautiful site and talk to them about where our animals came from and what we do to care for them. Full induction and training will be provided. Unfortunately, not all areas of our site are currently accessible to all. Volunteers must be comfortable walking across open ground.

Days and times

  • First Saturday of every month (April – September)
  • 10:00-16:00

Email kath@goodheartanimalsanctuaries.com to apply or for  more information

Education Volunteer

If you are interested in gaining experience working with children and animals, this may be just right for you. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to assist in the design and delivery of engaging workshops for school children of all ages. An enhanced DBS check is preferable but not required for this role.

Our current workshops include:

  • Animal digestion
  • Climate change
  • Animal care (horses and chickens)
  • Animal inspired arts and crafts
  • Exploring plant-based cooking

Days and times

  • Thursdays and Fridays
  • Core hours are 10:00 – 14:00. Additional time would be welcomed.

Full induction and training will be provided. If you think you may like to assist in our education programme, please email kath@goodheartanimalsanctuaries.com

Volunteer Videographer

Can you help farm animals shine?

We’re looking for someone with videography skills to help us show the world that farmed animals are full of love, personality, and intelligence – and that they deserve our protection.

We’re looking to build a library of high-quality, engaging videos to be used on our website, social media channels and in our community outreach programs. Many people don’t get to engage with farmed animals up close and personal, so we want to bring the animals to them.

If you have experience making promotional films and can spare some time to come and film at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary in Milson, Kidderminster, we’d love to hear from you.

Please email kath@goodheartanimalsanctuaries.com for more information.
