Summer Open Day Volunteers

We’re looking to recruit a team of friendly and reliable volunteers to help out at our Summer Open Day on Sunday 8th August 2021 at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary near Kidderminster.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us in the following areas:

  • Car Parking – directing cars in our field
  • Stewards – manning key areas of our site, ensuring members of the public stay within our boundary and generally helping anyone in need
  • General – you might be asked to help out in one of the areas above, assist our staff on one of our stalls by replenishing stock or providing temporary cover during bathroom breaks

Must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours continuous volunteering between the hours of 10am and 3:30pm on the day. Don’t worry if you’ve never done any volunteering before! A week or so prior to the event, we’ll invite you to the sanctuary  to run through all of the details to make sure you’re all clued up! The date of this will be confirmed shortly.

What you’ll get:

  • FREE entry to our Open Day (normally £4 per person). There will be lots to see and do including meeting our friendly residents – see details of the event here.
  • That warm fuzzy feeling that comes with helping an animal sanctuary by being a fabulous volunteer!

We’ll also provide you with a snazzy high vis volunteer vest to wear and treat you to a tea, coffee, or cold drink from our refreshment stall before or after your shift.

If you would like to get involved, please send us an email at info@goodheart.org.uk and a member of our sanctuary team will get back to you! As a small organisation, we rely on the help of volunteers and being let down can have a huge impact on our team. As a result, please only get in touch if you are serious about volunteering.

Gardening Volunteer

Are you an enthusiastic gardener with experience of growing your own vegetables or maintaining an allotment? We need your help to develop an organic vegetable patch to produce veg, jams and chutneys throughout the year.

If you think you may be able to lend a hand with maintaining raised beds, digging and turning soil, sowing seeds, weeding, and organically protecting crops from pests, this may be just right for you. You don’t need to be a green-fingered whizz, all experience is helpful.

A regular weekly commitment would be preferable to keep our veg patch neat and tidy.

Days and times:

  • We would ideally like someone Monday to Friday, but Saturdays will be considered
  • Mornings, afternoons, or full days

How to apply:

If you think you could help set up our vegetable patch, please email kath@goodheart.org.uk

Adoption & Membership Volunteer

Would you like to help us spread the Goodheart joy?

We are looking for an Adoption & Membership Volunteer to help us process our animal adoptions, Hearts of Gold memberships, and merchandise orders.

Tasks will include:

  • Processing all incoming orders and simple data inputting onto Excel
  • Filing and answering email queries
  • Packaging up orders and sending them out via Royal Mail
  • Stock collection from our sanctuary

About you:

  • Able to commit to at least one hour per day, five days a week. The time required may be less as orders vary depending on different periods of the year
  • Able to make regular trips to a post office to ensure items are delivered promptly
  • This position is home-based, so you will need to have space in your home to accommodate a small amount of stock
  • We are looking for someone situated in the Worcestershire area to allow for stock collection from the sanctuary.

What we offer:

As a volunteer at Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries, you can feel good knowing you are helping our team and all the animals under our care. Although this in an unpaid position, all training will be provided and we can offer several benefits including FREE entry to our Open Days in 2021 and a 10% discount in our online shop.

How to apply:

To apply, please email us at info@goodheart.org.uk with a short cover letter telling us a little about yourself and any relevant experience you have.

These videos are likely to include a variety of illustrations and statistics to support our compassionate messaging.

About you:

  • Able to produce short animated films.
  • You may be particularly interested in illustrating animals or the environment.
  • You may be looking to expand your current portfolio.

Location:

  • This is a home-based role but you will be invited to visit the sanctuary if it is convenient for you.

  • Full flexibility to suit you.

If you think you could help us, please email a short personal introduction and summary of your relevant skills to kath@goodheart.org.uk
