Sponsor a Stable Appeal

Help make a difference to our horses, ponies, and other animals this autumn and winter, with our Sponsor a Stable Appeal.

Our sanctuary is home to five lovable rescued equines, each with their own unique personality and individual care needs. As the nights draw in, they will be spending more time snuggled up in their cosy stables, but they need your support!

Sponsor a Stable today and help us get their cosy lodgings ready for winter.

Meet our lovable equines

Sponsor a Stable and help animals like Poppy

Poppy

At 24 years old, Poppy has had 11 owners throughout her life. Sadly, before she came to us, she was living on a smallholding where the animals were in a terrible state. After the RSPCA intervened, Poppy was taken in by kind-hearted people, but without the facilities to care for her long term, she needed a new home once again. In 2018, Poppy arrived at Goodheart, where she will spend the rest of her days in peace and comfort, never needing to move again.

Merry Rehab and Special Care Unit Stable Block

Harry

Harry’s charm is irresistible! As one of our friendliest residents, he loves coming over for an apple or two and a chin scratch. He was our sanctuary’s very first resident, arriving after repeatedly escaping his previous owner’s field. When they no longer wanted him, Harry needed a new home – and he’s been an integral part of the Goodheart family ever since.

Sponsor a Stable and help animals like Morris

Morris

Morris holds the special title of our oldest resident (over 30 years old!) and just like all our elderly residents, we give him the extra care he deserves. One way we do this is by preparing a special softened feed that’s easy for him to enjoy. If you’ve visited, you may have seen Morris in his rug, which helps manage “sweet itch,” a skin condition caused by allergic reactions to midge bites. Along with his rug, we use fly spray and gel to keep him comfortable and happy in his forever home.

William

This gentle giant was much loved by his previous owner. Unfortunately, her circumstances changed and the field William called his home had to be sold. At Goodheart, William enjoys being taken for walks round the sanctuary – as well as his daily groom. He’s also extremely fond of a good belly rub and, of course, the team are happy to oblige (especially, for such a good-natured chap as William!)

Dudley the pony

Dudley

Our little Shetland pony Dudley is one feisty character and what he lacks in height he certainly makes up for in attitude. He shares a paddock with fellow pony Morris who likes to keep him in check with a playful game of chase around the field! Dudley’s favourite thing (other than a good game of chase) is having his mane and tail brushed by our Animal Care Team.

Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries treats donations for this appeal as unrestricted. This means that your donation may also be used to help other animals in our care or contribute to the general running of our sanctuary, wherever the need is greatest.
