When I was just two days old, my mum sadly died. I was living on a farm, and the owner, with no time to hand-rear me, put me in the care of his cousin’s family next door. They bottle-fed me until I was strong enough for the paddock. The farmer promised never to send me to market, but after a harsh winter, he could no longer afford to keep me or my brother, Danny. Desperate to save us, the farmer’s family reached out to Goodheart. Luckily, they had space, and Danny and I found our forever home!
True to my name, I am one of the biggest cows at the sanctuary – but also a huge softie. I adore fuss and I might even be one of the only cows in the country with my very own grooming brush!

Enjoy these fun videos of our cattle enjoying life at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary
Cattle are well known for chewing the cud: regurgitating and re-chewing food that they have already swallowed once. This is to help them digest tough fibrous food, like grass.
Older cattle have better long term memory than younger individuals, with some studies showing that cattle may form memories that can last for about a year.
Cattle are capable of experiencing sadness; with agitated mothers and calves who have been separated after birth being a common example.
A £30 one-off payment is required to adopt a cow, and your adoption lasts for 12 months. If you would like to support our animals with a regular payment, please consider a Sponsorship or a Regular Donation.
We do not currently have any calves at Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary. By adopting Everest the cow, you’re helping us to expand our sanctuary offering and provide a home for many more animals in the future.
There is no limit to the number of people who can adopt one of our animals. This allows as many supporters as possible to connect with and learn about our rescued residents through the adoption boxes and email updates.
When you adopt a cow like Everest or Duncan, you’re helping care for them and their rescued friends at the sanctuary, as well as contributing to our wider work as an animal rescue. Your generosity helps us with things like maintaining our sanctuary site, planning fundraising events, and funding exciting projects like our Goodheart Home for Rescued Hens!
