Dave Final Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries

We're hiring!

Who wants to join our gang? We're recruiting for a Marketing Assistant now.

About Us

Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries is a brand new charity. With a focus on farm animals, our mission is threefold: we offer sanctuary to abused and neglected animals, we raise awareness of their plight and we campaign to end their suffering.

We’re small in size, but big in ambition. We’re determined to raise our voice above the crowd and bring about a change in public opinion. And we need your help.

About You

First and foremost, we’re looking for somebody who understands the art of communication. In other words, what motivates and engages people. You’ll be comfortable working under your own initiative, and be able to pick things up quickly. Full of ideas, you’ll help Goodheart Animal Sanctuaries stand out of the crowd. And, of course, you’ll be passionate about animal welfare.

About the Role

Opportunities like this genuinely are few and far between. You’ll be joining a charity at the very beginning of its journey, and have the opportunity to help shape its future.

The role will be both interesting and varied. You’ll work across the full marketing mix, from digital and events to merchandise and grant applications. You’ll also be given the opportunity to develop new skills – as well as augment existing ones. Reporting in to the Marketing Officer, the successful candidate will:

·       Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential)

·       Possess excellent digital skills inc. social media, website content management etc. (essential)

·       Be proficient in the use of office software packages such as Excel and Word (essential)

·       Be educated to degree level, ideally in a marketing or communications-based subject and/or have at least 12 months’ experience in a marketing role (essential)

·       Hold a UK driving license (essential)

·       Have charity fundraising experience (desirable)

·       Have experience of donor development and use of a CRM system (desirable)

·       Be comfortable using image and video editing software (desirable)

·       Have empathy with a plant-based diet (desirable)

You will be required to:

·       Help create and execute marketing campaigns and appeals.

·       Provide marketing support to Goodheart’s two sister sanctuaries: Wiccaweys Rescued Border Collies and The Farm Animal Sanctuary

·       Create highly engaging and wide-reaching posts across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, You Tube and LinkedIn, as well as monitor account activity, reply to messages etc.

·       Attract and retain individual charity fundraisers and assist in devising new materials to support them.

·       Undertake market and competitor research to uncover the latest industry trends

·       Identify and apply for charitable grants from relevant trusts and other organisations.

·       Help co-ordinate both internal and external events and devise supporting materials

·       Drive merchandise sales and introduce new products to the range

·       Undertake general administrative duties e.g. stock counts, ordering of materials

·       Perform any other duties the Marketing Officer considers appropriate

Whilst the role is home-based, it involves frequent travel to our head office in Shropshire – as well as to our two other sanctuaries in Worcestershire and North Lincolnshire.

At the outset, you will be required to work remotely and independently, reporting to the Marketing Officer (based in Bolton). Because of this, we’re looking for candidates located in either the West Midlands or North West of England.

This is a permanent, full-time role (subject to the successful completion of a six-month probationary period.) Salary is to be negotiated based on experience.
